With so many online sites and resources, I’m excited and humbled that you have landed here.

My hope is this site will be a source of encouragement, biblical wisdom, and community to help you navigate life’s demands with rekindled hope and renewed purpose.

As a wife and a mom of four, with a part-time job and God-sized dreams, I can easily become distracted by things unimportant, unnecessary, and unknown.

If you’re anything like me, the responsibilities we carry can become so all-consuming that you hit the pillow at night feeling utterly exhausted, discouraged, and disconnected from God. We question how it’s possible to mesh holy living with daily reality.

How do we pursue and serve Jesus when we’re preoccupied with chasing after our children? Or maintaining our home? Or building a career? Or fulfilling volunteer duties?

If you can relate at all to this scenario, then I invite you to stick around for awhile and join me as we learn to experience God’s power and presence in the midst of the daily grind. The heartening truth is that it is fully possible to live for God while living in this world, and His Word gives us a wealth of guidance on how to do it well! It’s time to trade superficial habits for genuine encounters with God.

Together, we can awaken to the wonder of God in our everyday lives so we feel spiritually renewed, connected, and equipped to live the life He intends for us to live.

I’m so grateful you are here!

About Kelley

Kelley Brown is an introverted writer who is continually surprised by her love of public speaking.  Holding a Master of Theological Studies degree from Beeson Divinity School, she particularly enjoys equipping women to study the Bible with confidence and curiosity.  She serves on the Writing Team for First 5, a Bible study app from Proverbs 31 Ministries. She has also written for LifeWay’s devotional guide Journey. Through her roles as Director of Women’s Ministry at her local church and host of the StoryTellers Live podcast, Kelley takes every opportunity to highlight the goodness of God. She and her husband, Scott, live in Birmingham, Alabama, with their four children.  With two daughters adopted from China, they passionately advocate orphan care and adoption.

My Family

I am married to a man who outmeasures me in more than just height (he’s 6’5” and I’m 5’3”!) He is undoubtedly the most intelligent, patient, loyal, and virtuous person I know. We met on a blind date, and despite my reluctance to meet simply because his last name was the same as my maiden name, we fell in love and I became Mrs. Kelley Brown Brown.

After Scott and I married in 2005, we experienced the heartache and challenge of enduring multiple miscarriages in our quest to begin and expand our family. We have lost 7 babies through 6 miscarriages (one set of twins). Having dealt with the losses in both healthy and poor ways, I long to be available to other women who are struggling down this hard road.

Through both the miracle of birth and the beauty of adoption, we now have four children - Caroline, Carter, Grace, and Maryn - ranging from 23 to 10 years in age. How we got here is quite a story. After giving birth to our biological son in 2008, and also experiencing multiple losses over several years, we fast-tracked our dream of adoption. Through China’s Special Needs program, we traveled to adopt Grace (at 17 months old) in 2010, and then returned to adopt Caroline (who was 12 years old) in 2011. As if adding a preteen to the mix of toddlers wasn’t dramatic enough, God surprised me by being ahead of my own timing for perhaps the first time ever! God gifted us with a healthy (but complication-ridden) pregnancy and biological daughter, Maryn, in 2012. And yes, if you’re doing the math, we added three kids in two years!

My Professions and Pursuits

After working in Public Relations for The Alabama Ballet and then Marketing for Cooking Light magazine, I fulfilled my dream of attending seminary. I graduated with a Master of Theological Studies from Beeson Divinity School just a few weeks before the birth of my son. Over the last 20 years, I’ve served as a freelance writer, speaker, and Bible study teacher. Five years ago, I stepped into the role of Women’s Ministry Director at my church. I serve on the Writing Team for First 5, a Bible app from Proverbs 31 Ministries, and have written in depth study guides on Romans and Job. I have also contributed to the study guides on Exodus and Numbers, and I’m a contributing author to LifeWay’s quarterly devotional guide Journey.

My Roots

Though born in Birmingham, Alabama, I actually spent my formative years in the beautiful, quaint, and northern town of Sparta, New Jersey. Living just an hour outside of NYC, it is there where I became a lifelong snow-lover, Broadway fan, and aspiring dancer.

My Passions

My passion is to connect with women through emotional honesty, relatable stories, and biblical wisdom. I also find so much joy in equipping women to study the Bible with a curious mind and a confident heart. I am passionate about orphan care and adoption, all genres of literature, Auburn football, good food, and digging deep into God’s Word. Also, discovering my Enneagram personality (I’m a 4…the Romantic/Individualist) has been transformative! My top bucket-list items are swimming with dolphins, flying in a hot-air balloon, and traveling to Israel to visit the Holy Land.
